dear ellen
this meeting is like a get together for p.d patients. i invited one neurologist and one surgen. all (most of the people either asked some questions reg dbs or other questions.except my self. i have lot of stage fear.i wrote vote of thanks and one lady red it.i need some suggestions.
thanks
Answer
Is a good Idea that a neurologist and a surgen are going to your meeting, they know what to do and say so just relax and enjoy the moment, this way your friends will also feel relaxed. try to get then to tell you or write their comments on what they suggest is needed for a better reunion.
I think by just organizing and getting the people you did more than enough, things will flow as they go....congratulations!
Where do you live?

in Occupational Therapy and I'm trying to develop a home program to send home with patients at have Parkinson's when they get discharged from therapy. I was wondering if you ever work with an Occupational Therapist and if so what did you work on and did they give you a home program. I appreciate you sharing your story and I hope you're able to help. Thanks so much.

RE: Question
I guess it should depend on each individual since parkinson's is diff in each person. You should include stretching, rotating all joints, and facial exercise (mouth, tonque). I have not get occupational therapy, only physical therapy to improve posture.
hope that I helped, any more specific questions pls let me know

hello elena:
my name is viviana marrugo, I live in new york, but I am from COLOMBIA.
THE other day I was looking for information about parkinson, and that is how I got to your page and got your e-mail.
my mom is 58 years old and started showing mild symptoms. she already went to a neurologist and it seems to be that she has parkinson(she had MRI, BLOOD TEST, ETE).
she is currently treated for depression. she also has the resting tremor(very mild) and other symptoms.
I have read a lot about the disease, the symptoms, and the prognosis. however, I would really appreciate if you can e-mail me (when it is convenient for you) and tell me very honestly about your life with parkinsons disease, the progression of the disease ete.
I Have been very sad, but I KNOw I NEED to be strong for her. I know that stress plays a major role in the course of the disease. we are very close. she is my best friend, and I really want to help her.
I want to thank you in advance and I hope we can we in touch soon.
viviana marrugo
RE: information about parkinson
Hola Viviana
I know how it feels as victim of Park. i had to see my mother and daughters suffer as my condition worsen.
I have to admit, its not easy, there are times that i had given up as well as there were times of encourgement. It all has to do with the family, how they treat us is how we feel, at times I wanted to scream for help but took deep breath and pray to calm me down because i didnt want my two little daughter suffer as i did.
my mom used to tell me that the kids needed me more than ever since the father too a long (still) leave of absent.
she reminded me I had to be strong so i can see them get married and see my grandchildren. all these gave me courage to keep fighting and stay sane. I had so much faith that thanks for the surgery i had, i had recover 80% and now i can walk talk and was physically ready for ventures because one thing i never stopped doing ever since i got sick: exercise.
I am telling u all these so you can see how much your mother needs support, she cannot put it in words but in her mind she is thanking you because i could not speak at all or walk \\
so tell your mother to have patience and hopefuly the cure will be on our time, make her an active member of any support group and try to go to Parkinson unity walk, I will be there if you want we can meet.
hope that i have hel

Pablo Romero

RECIBI SU COMENTARIO RESPECTO A UD. Y LE AGRADEZCO LA CONFIANZA.
DONDE ESTA UD. ACTUALMENTE, QUIERO DECIR EN QUE PAIS Y QUE LUGAR.
PUDE ENTENDER QUE UD. ACTUALMENTE TIENE EL MAL DE PARKINSON, ES CORRECTA MI OBSERVACION ?
SI ES ASI, COMO SE INICIO ESTE PROBLEMA EN UD. , QUE SINTOMAS PRESENTO Y SEGUN LO QUE UD. SABE GENERALMENTE QUE SINTOMAS INICIALES SE TIENEN ?
HE LEIDO EN DIFERENTES ARTICULOS DE AQUI DE INTERNET SOBRE EL MAL DE PARKINSON, SOBRE TEMAS DE MANOS TEMBLOROSAS, PORQUE EN ESTE MOMENTO MI PROBLEMA ES DE MANOS TEMBLOROSAS, AMBAS, SIN EMBARGO YA TAMBIEN LEI QUE ES UN FACTOR DEL MAL DE PARKINSON, POR ESTO ME PERMITO PREGUNTARLE A UD. SUS EXPERIENCIAS AL RESPECTO.

Hola Victor,
